Almost Home Dogs - Episode 2: Sushi, In Search Of Friends!

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Lily's puppy picture is featured in Pet Blogs United's Baby Face Parade today! Lily will share more of her baby pictures later in the week, when its her turn to blog.
The humans at Pets Teach Us So Much featured us in their blog for Pet Blogger Support Saturday! Check it out! They also mentioned us in their radio show this past Thursday. Thanks you guys! Don't forget Sammy-Joe's First Giveaway (for cats... but if you're a dog who wants a cat toy, feel free to enter!)

Welcome back to our very second interview with a dog from Almost Home Foundation. If you want to read more about why we are doing these interviews, check out Bermuda's Interview. (By the way, little Bermuda still needs a home!)

Today our Mama met an adorable 1 1/2 year old terrier mix called Sushi! We asked her for an interview, and she happily agreed. Lets meet Sushi!

S(Sushi) Hi everyone!

TLS (us): Hi, Sushi. We hear that you are a terrier. Do you know what kind of terrier you are?

S: Oh, I don't know. My new foster mom thinks maybe I am a Cairn Terrier, because she looked at pictures of them, and they have brown fur on their faces, just like me. Do you think my face is cute?

TLS: Yes, we do.

S: Oh, thanks!

TLS: You're welcome. Do you remember anything about your background?

S: Not really. My foster mom picked me up from a kennel, where I was waiting around because I had no where else to stay. I don't remember if I was a stray, or what. I do know that someone loved me at some point. I am a really happy dog, and I love people. I remember belonging to someone. Whoever it was, they taught me how to "sit" on command for a treat! I don't know why they left me!

TLS: But you do like people?

S: Oh, yes, I love people! I think all people are my friends. At the adoption show, if you walk past me, I might bark at you. You might think I am barking to be mean. But I am actually saying, "Hey you! Where are you going? Don't you think you should pet me?"

TLS: Are you good with children?

S: I don't  know. I haven't met many children lately. They are small humans, right? Will they pet me? That would be nice. I saw some once at the adoption show. They were running. I wanted to chase them but my foster mom said no. Do you have some children? I would like to meet them! We could try it out!

TLS: But, would you bite them if you didn't like them?

S: Bite them? Why, do they taste good? I like to bite my treats. Treats are delicious. Do you have any treats? I don't bite humans. They don't taste delicious. Sometimes I like to lick humans, though!

TLS: How about other dogs? Are you good with other dogs?

S: Oh, yes,  I love dogs! I am one, you know. I like to play with dogs. Sometimes when I see a very tiny dog, I crouch down really low on the ground to get a good look!

TLS: Do you like cats?

S: What is a cat? Do you have a cat? Maybe if I meet a cat, I could tell you if I like it or not.

TLS: Sammy-Joe is a cat.

S: Oh. I can't see him, because he is hiding in that fort! Maybe you can show me another cat that isn't hiding, sometime!

TLS: Okay, we'll try that. And now for the awkward question... are you housetrained?

S: Oh sure. I am housetrained. I like to go outside.

TLS: When you're relaxing at home, do you like to cuddle with your humans at all?

S: Oh yes, I do! When my foster mom or foster dad sit on the couch, I jump up in their lap, and I put my paws on their shoulders. I say, "You should hug me!" And they do! I like to cuddle. It makes me feel safe and loved.

TLS: What would your ideal home be like?

S: I am not picky. I just want to be loved. I want to have lots of friends. I want them to pet me, cuddle me, and play with me. That's all I really want! And treats. You should give me treats.  I am kinda skinny, don't you think? I need some meat on my bones!

TLS: Yeah, you are kind of skinny. Don't they feed you?

S: My new foster mom bought some special food with lots of protein, to try and fatten me up. But I didn't like it. It was not delicious at all. So now I eat the regular dog food. Maybe it will fatten me up more slowly. Maybe my foster mom should give me more treats to speed up my fattening!

TLS: That would be a good idea! Okay, Sushi, that's all the questions we have for today. What are you going to do now?

S: Uh... go take a nap?

TLS: Good idea! Us too! Bye Sushi!

S: Bye! Thanks for interviewing me on your blog!

If you want to meet Sushi in person, or to learn more about him, email dogs@almosthomefoundation.org. Or, you can call 630-582-3738.

Good luck, Sushi! We hope you find lots of friends!
