Apollo's Blogathon Winners!

Hi everyone! The time has come to announce the winners of Apollo's Awesome Blogathon!

We are happy to announce we raised $207 for Apollo! Not bad, for a last minute Blogathon!
You may notice that it seems like the same prizes were won by the same people over and over. But the thing is, there were really only 21 people who entered... and of those 21, some opted not to enter the raffle, they just wanted to make a donation. So, we actually had more prizes than entrants, and it turned out that almost everyone who entered won something! We were so happy about that part! I love my Pawbreakers!!!

Hi everyone! Its Sammy-Joe! My new bestest friend Brett from Edible Animal Treats sent me an awesome Pawbreaker to try out. Have you ever heard of one before? Its an amazing invention. It is catnip... that rolls! Its like a ping-pong sized ball of solid catnip. OMG, have you ever heard of anything better? (Hey, if you were going to visit the Pawbreaker link, scroll to the bottom of the page. See that gray cat holding a Pawbreaker? That is not me. But doesn't it look like me????)
I love my new Pawbreaker very, very much. Mama took it away for now because she doesn't want me to have it all the time when she's not watching me... she's afraid I'll get too loopy and fall off the counter again or knock down the garbage can again. (These are things I have done, ashamedly, under the influence of 'nip!) But she said she will give it to me to play with again later!

Lots Of Toys from Kyjen!

We have made so many great new friends during this blogathon! Our newest friend, Lauren from Kyjen sent us a big box of doggie toys! We got to try out a few of them, and the rest were for us to raffle off to you.


Want to see the things we got to try?
First there was this Hide-A Squirrel Puzzle Plush. Your human is supposed to hide the little squeaky squirrels inside the tree trunk. Then you are supposed to figure out how to get the squirrels out!

Lily loved playing with this toy! The directions said that Mama should rub the squirrels on herself to get them to smell like her, but Mama didn't even have to do that. All Lily had to know was that something in there squeaked! Lily dragged the tree around and worked at getting the squirrels out. Finally she realized that if she picked up the trunk and shook it crazily, the squirrel would come flying out! (Mama tried to take pictures of this, but they came out all blurry because of course Lily never stops moving.) Lily was so proud when she finally got those squirrels! 

The next thing we played with was the Real Animal Squeaker Mat! 

Boy, was it big! It was longer than Lily! 

And it had so many squeakers in it. It had at a whole bunch of squeakers in the body, and a really loud, funny sounding squeaker in the tail! 

We both loved playing with it. And, in fact, it was so big, we could both play with it at the same time!

Finally, Mama gave us a toy that would enhance our brains. She gave us a Paw Hide Dog Puzzle! 

The way it works is, Mama takes the cups out, puts treats in them, and then puts them back. We have to try to figure out how to pick up the cups to get the treats out!

We had a lot of trouble with this. We are just spoiled dogs who are used to having Mama help us. After a few minutes of sniffing like crazy at the toy, we just laid down and stared at Mama.

So, she tried something else. She replaced the cups upside down, so they'd be easier for us to knock out of the puzzle. This gave us a better idea of what we were supposed to do! After a few tries of doing it that way, we were ready to try it the right way again. Did you ever think a dog could play with a puzzle?

Walking In Circles Before Lying Down, By Merrill Markoe

Hi everyone! Not long ago, Sammy-Joe wrote a book recommendation for Smarty Sunday, about Merrill Markoe's book Nose Down, Eyes Up. Well, Mama used one of her Paperback Swap credits to get another Merrill Markoe book called Walking In Circles Before Lying Down. It is another very funny book featuring a human who can understand dogs.


This time, the human is a woman named Dawn. As a child dealing with a narcissistic mother and an absent father, Dawn coped with her loneliness by talking to "inanimate" objects. She thought she outgrew that phase. Now she is an adult, still dealing with her narcissistic mother, an equally narcissistic boyfriend, and an exuberant sister who wants to be her life coach. The only comfort in her life is her beloved dog, Chuck. And then one day she realizes she can understand Chuck... and also all of the other dogs at the doggie daycare where she works!


Not only can Dawn now communicate with animals, but she finds that they are wise, and funny, and comforting... most of the time!

We Love Our Yummy Chummies!

We have been getting a lot of treats in the mail, but we were still surprised when the box came from Yummy Chummies! We learned that our friend Sarah from Yummy Chummies had sent over a whole box of salmon treats for us to raffle off to you! 

Mama let us sample the Salmon And Bacon flavor. We'd never tasted anything like it... but boy did we love it! We were begging for more!

Wanna know something really funny? Mama broke off some pieces for Sammy-Joe, the kitty among us... and he loved it too! Even he was begging for more! Mama says thats because the treats have salmon in them. And of course kitties love fish. But do you know that salmon is also really good for us doggies, too?  It is chock full of protein, vitamins, minerals, plus Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids. We've mentioned before how these Omegas can help fight cancer and are good for our bones, our joints, our hearts, our skin and our beautiful fur. 

We have two separate raffle packages to offer you. The first raffle will include a bottle of salmon oil. the super cool thing about the salmon oil is that you can pump a few squirts of it into your pet's regular food at each meal, giving the food all that extra nutrition!

Hi everyone! Remember back in January, when Premier Pet Products partnered with us on our very first giveaway? They sent us a Pogo Plush Bunny! (Which, by the way, is still alive and bouncing, and is the only toy Lily hasn't managed to get the squeaker out of, despite her valiant attempts at it!)

A Book By Our Mama!

Hi everyone! We told you our Mama could paint, right? But did we tell you she can also write? Our Mama has loved writing since the day she was born. At least that's what Gramma says! Mama self-published four books. (She got tired of trying to submit them to publishers, and thought she'd give selling them herself a try... with not much luck. But still, her books are very interesting!)
Want to hear about the books our Mama has written?


Skye Blue is the one Mama worked the hardest on! It is a fictional book about a fourteen-year-old homeless girl named Skye, and her rocky relationship with her older brother Jimmy.


What Some Call Heaven is about a young girl who shows up in a homeless shelter, claiming to be an angel. It is one of our favorites because it has an angel in it! We love angels!


If you know any children with autism, Danny, Danny, Superstar is the book for you! Its a short "chapter novel" from the point of view of a little boy with autism. He attends a special education classroom for children on the autism spectrum. The story is about what happens when his class participates in the school's talent show.


If you have ADHD like our Mama does, or know anyone who does, Why I Am The Way I Am is a great book for you! This book explains, in simple terms, what it is like to have ADHD, why people with ADHD sometimes seem lazy and careless, and how people can help them without acting as their crutch.
